Route 17 Was Updated Recently? Speed Changes?

This is the maximum level each Pokemon is found at its rarity. I am comparing some new maps to the old Route 17. You are all fussing over hot air. It was changed and the levels are lower - so what? Do you even look at your experience bars, or do you just go places you're told are good?

Organized by "actual rarity" (the percentage) and classified by game rarity.

Original Route 17
Doduo, Common: Level 28, 576 Experience (+192 with membership)
Spearow, Common: Level 22, 273 Experience (+91 with membership)
Raticate, Common: Level 29, 720 Experience (+240 with membership)
Fearow, Rare: Level 27, 936 Experience (+312 with membership)
Rattata, Rare: Level 22, 268 Experience (+89 with membership)

New Route 17
Rattata, Common: Level 23, 280 Experience (+95 with membership)
Doduo, Common: Level 24, 493 Experience (+164 with membership)
Grimer, Common: Level 22, 423 Experience (+141 with membership)
Spearow, Common: Level 23, 285 Experience (+95 with membership)
Raticate, Rare: Level 24, 595 Experience (+198 with membership)
Fearow, Rare: Level 24, 832 Experience (+277 with membership)
Muk, Very Rare: Level 24, 807 Experience (+269 with membership)
Slugma, Horribly Rare: Level 25, 417 Experience (+139 with membership)
Ponyta, Horribly Rare: Level 25, 813 Experience (+211 with membership)

Seafoam Islands B4F
Seel, Common: Level 26, 556 Experience (+185 with membership)
Psyduck, Common: Level 25, 427 Experience (+142 with membership)
Slowpoke, Common: Level 25, 529 Experience (+176 with membership)
Zubat, Common: Level 25, 288 Experience (+96 with membership)
Golbat, Rare: Level 26, 952 Experience (+317 with membership)
Dewgong, Rare: Level 26, 979 Experience (+326 with membership)
Shellder, Very Rare: Level 26, 540 Experience (+180 with membership)
Jynx, Very Rare: Level 26, 762 Experience (+254 with membership)
Omanyte, Horribly Rare: Level 27, 693 Experience (+231 with membership)

Route 21
Rattata, Common: Level 23, 280 Experience (+93 with membership)
Tangela, Common: Level 26, 924 Experience (+308 with membership)
Pidgey, Common: Level 25, 294 Experience (+98 with membership)
Raticate, Rare: Level 25, 621 Experience (+207 with membership)
Pidgeotto, Rare: Level 25, 604 Experience (+201 with membership)
Mr. Mime, Horribly Rare: Level 24, 699 Experience (+233 with membership)

Can we all stop complaining over nothing now? Almost nothing changed if all you care about is levels and experience (which is a shame if you do... this is a game, not math class).

As for battle speed:

Quote

On Pokemon Platinum on my DS, with text speed on fastest and animations on, I entered multiple battles and then fled.

Ten tests for each:

12 seconds (consistent): Entering a wild battle, spamming the A Button to increase text speed, running from battle
15 seconds (consistent): Entering a wild battle, letting the text flow on its own, running from battle
20 seconds (consistent): Entering a wild battle, spamming the A Button to increase text speed, using a single attack (wing attack) to defeat the foe, battle ends
26 seconds (consistent): Entering a wild battle, letting the text flow on its own, using a single attack (wing attack) to defeat the foe, battle ends
36 seconds (consistent): Changing the text speed to the absolute slowest, entering a wild battle, letting the text flow on its own, using a single attack (wing attack) to defeat the foe, battle ends

In PWO on my computer with no other programs running, I entered multiple battles and then fled.

Ten tests for each:

6 seconds (consistent): Entering a wild battle, hitting space to exit the battle intro, and running
14 seconds (consistent): Entering a wild battle, hitting space to exit the battle intro, using a single attack (body slam) to defeat the foe, battle ends

This is a post I made in a different topic. I hope everyone realizes that the old battle speed was not correct and was never intended to be that fast, so the recent fix to the speed is actually an improvement for the game. There's no reason to complain about the speed either.

I've just finished several updates to pwo.net. The most noticeable of these will be the server status should be working properly for the most part now. It was also updated to show the number of active users in addition to showing that the server is full (should it be). Other changes were just internal cache fix stuff.

Wiki And Irc

I know this topic exists somewhere, but I thought I'd post it where people would look.

PWO does in fact have a wiki. If you have any questions about gameplay that aren't found on the forums, chances are you can find them at http://grou.ps/pwo . If you register for the wiki, be sure to use a different password than your game password.

When using PWO content please be sure to check the address bar at the top of the page. If you're not at one of the addresses listed below, don't enter your information!

~Farewell~

So, here's the deal people:

Over the next week or so, I will be working on updating the core engine of pDex to be the same as pwo.net's core. pwo.net's core was copied from pDex and then updated and optimized for it's new template. The changes made to it will be implemented into pDex. The most noticeable of these changes is the Skin/Template system with which we can start doing the same with pDex as with pwo.net when it comes to seasonal layouts, special occasion layouts, or possibly even user submitted layouts (Long shot at best right now).

While most of the compatibility issues should be fixed beforehand, I want you to be fair warned that you may expect errors here and there. I will be working with the GMs to test everything before it goes live, but just be prepared.

By now you're probably wondering about the title. Well, once the core engine is updated, I am removing v9. This means you'll no longer be able to use it for anything. The biggest con of this will be that guild controls will be down until I can get them on v10. However, I will be working on doing this as a priority. The phone book and friends will have to wait a bit.

In light of the new Guild Controls, I will be adding a few changes:
-Guild Funds
-Cost To Join(?)
-Cost to Leave
-Cost to Invite
-Weekly Taxes

Those are just off the top of my head. Granted what the money sinks will actually be, I've not decided yet. You can expect a tier based system with the weekly taxes.

The other con of this that stands out is that if your account isn't verified, you won't be able to access anything. There are 53K that aren't verified that have been active since September, 23K since October, and 12K in this month. Looking through these, I'm seeing tons of Hotmail, GMail, and Yahoo accounts. All of these I'm sure are valid accounts and there is no reason why you shouldn't validate it. If your email isn't valid...well...there isn't much we can do until I get the email reset in, which I don't know when that will be. Now, one thing I'm going to do is auto-verify any accounts who's emails exist from donations/subscriptions through paypal. Seeing as paypal requires validation too, this will be fine. So if you need to verify your account and for some reason are unable to, then IF AND ONLY IF your paypal email is the same as your verification email, you can do an offline donation of $1, and then I'll run the update that will verify anyone that has donated and this should fix your account. I do not, however, foresee my adding the tokens for this as there are way to many for me to be able to do that manually. I may, however (Again) add an automated item to do this. Seeing as there are only 2.5k items on file, this will not do much at the moment.

So, once v9 is down, it's down for good. Be looking for it to go down in the next 2 or 3 weeks. It's served us well, but there are only 3 items on there to be using it and people are still telling others to go there for other reasons. So it's going bye bye. Remember to make your Farewells to it.

~Farewell~ v9.

A Word From The Gms

Well well, you might have been noticing an increasing amount of reloads and GMs ingame over the last couple of days, and here we finally reveal why.

Firstly, we have added NPCs to all (if we havent missed any) of the Pokemarts ingame, so that Pokeballs, Potions, Super Potions and Good Rods can now be bought for a sensible price. We've been having some issues with the NPC code, so the prices for those items currently are:
- Pokeballs: 100 Pokedollars
- Potions: 50 Pokedollars
- Super Potion: 500 Pokedollars
- Good Rod: 25000 Pokedollars
Also, due to restrictions in the NPC code these NPCs are only able to sell one item at a time.

Secondly, we have have some new maps ingame!

In order to see them properly, please replace tilesets 11 and 14 (put them in your Tiles folder, which is located: PWO Folder -> files -> GFX -> Tiles) with the two Ive linked below. Its nothing major, but I can guarantee that they will make the new maps look a whole lot nicer,
Tileset 11: http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f173/WaTsErNaMe3/11.png
Tileset 14: http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f173/WaTsErNaMe3/14.png

We changed the maps allowing access to Cinnabar Island, and we now have two new custom maps ingame "Cinnabar Tunnel East" and "Cinnabar Tunnel West", a big thank you to WhiteWolf for making them. Route 20 and the Seafoam Islands have also been opened, and with this a couple more Pokemon are no longer UC, but are now catchable.

A lot of people helped with these projects, so please thank them, as they have done an excellent job.
Crenel & Nee - Did basically everything from NPCs, spawns, maps... Without these two it would not have been possible... GO TEAM!
King - Helping with Pokemon Spawn stuff.
Zerono - Answering our NPC related questions, and bringing back the server after we crashed it.
WhiteWolf - Creating the Cinnabar Tunnel maps, and helping making the Seafoam Island maps pretty.

Also, dont slip in Rock Tunnel, its been leaking water.
